There are many spiritual communities located around the world. If you ever need a spiritual retreat why not spend some time in a spiritual community? In this post we look at 3 spiritual communities: the psychic town Lily Dale, a yoga-type spiritual retreat called Ananda in California, and the legendary eco-community Findhorn in Scotland.
In the video above we look at the psychic town called Lily Dale in upstate New York. If you haven’t seen the HBO movie No One Dies in Lily Dale it is well worth a look. Basically, it looks at this small community of psychics and spiritualists in Lily Dale and focuses on a few of them in particular. In addition, the movie goes into the motivations of some of those who come to Lily Dale in search of spiritual succor.
As the narrator relates in the video above when you enter Lily Dale, a small spiritual community nestled in the woods, you often get a feeling peace. This is true of many different spiritual communities and is not only a function of the actual place but partially a function of your love of the particular brand of spirituality as well as the environment.
One thing we learn from the video of psychic town Lily Dale is that it is the largest center in the world for the religion of spiritualism.
The video below highlights the world brotherhood colony known as Ananda in Nevada City, California. The ashram was the vision of Swami Kriyananda inspired by Paramahansa Yogananda, the author of the classic Autobiography of a Yogi. Autobiography of a Yogi was one of the first spiritual books I read years ago. It is a great blend of spiritual motivation and interesting stories of Yogananda’s life and gurus.
Yogananda described world brotherhood colonies as the social network of the future. Check out Yogananda, Kriyananda, and the Ananda spiritual community in the video below.
If you remember, one of the spiritual communities we recently featured in our Wealthvibes Bulletin was that of Vedic City in Iowa, the spiritual community of TM, or Transcendental Meditation. In it we highlighted a visit to Vedic City by Oprah Winfrey in which she looked at their peace meditation group. Like Ananda above this spiritual town is centered around the practice of a specific type of yoga.
And, below we feature the legendary eco-community of Findhorn in Scotland. It is a wonderful blend of ecological and spiritual harmonies in a beautiful peaceful setting.
Hope you enjoyed this brief look at 3 different spiritual communities. Now, although they are different they all have a wonderful spiritual base in which the goal seems to spiritually nourish all who enter in. Is there a spiritual community near you that you have had the opportunity to visit? If so, please let us know in the comments below.
